They took my money and RAN!
oh, I forgot to add that the women that took the pictures signed me up for a membership and didn't tell me. When she handed me the card I was under the impression that it was included in the package since she never mentioned that she was charging me for the membership. Just thought I would add that.

I too was ripped off by Picture Me. I have a friend who had portraits taken at Sears around the same time and she got her portraits.
Furthermore all my research shows that this problem is pretty much exclusive to Picture Me customers and that Sears customers received the goods they paid for. If CPI owned both companies why did they do right by their Sears patrons and screw over all of us Picture Me customers???
The Wal-mart stores who are cooperating with customers and helping get refunds are out are doing it because the studios are still a reflection of their stores. Wal-mart has to step up and be the hero in the situation, however not all stores are helping as I have been hearing.
I used to manage a Sears portrait studio and let me first start off by apologizing for being ripped off. All CPI employees who worked in a studio and from my understanding DMs too had no idea of this abrupt closing.
And I feel so bad because in my last two weeks of work I serviced over 30 families who spent over $3500 combined who I know wont receive their portraits not to mention the 50+ orders that haven't been picked up yet. Thats nearly 100 orders in my studio alone! My suggestion to you is to dispute the charges because hopefully you paid with credit. Your credit card company will research it and you should get your money back.
Its a waste of time and energy to call customer service seeing as though no one has been in that office for months! Good luck to you!
Your portraits are at the photo center at the loganville walmart. Every order came in.
The studio associates were notified at 11 pm the wednesday after Easter not to comein all US sstudios were closed. I worked at the loganville studio and have we actually got our portraits in. There was a notice left on the counter to go to the photo center to get your portraits. I am so sorry cpi corp (our parent company) did not allow us to take care of our portrait families.
We were actually told not to enter our studios to call our customers or we would be prosecuted for trespassing. I have been so incredibly upset for how cpi corp abused its customers and its employees. Please pick yoir portraits up at the photo center.
Thank you for allowing us to take your portraits. I am truly sorry for the way cpi handled everything.
If you used a credit/ debit card, the bank may be able to cancel and refund your payment. Luckily you did not use cash, you would never see it again.
Some Wal-Mart locations have been refunding the money to keep a good relationship with their customers, but they are not responsible, they did not even know, lifelike the employees, until right before or even a couple days after they closed the stores, so they are just as frustrated. Depending when you got the pictures taken they might even be sitting in the studio and Wal-Mart management might be able to retrieve them for you with id and a receipt
The Picture Me Portrait Studios have never been owned by WalMart, so why would WalMart be responsible for returning your money? The studio was only renting space in the WalMart stores, and from what I have heard, the studios hadn't paid rent to WalMart in almost a year.
Good luck if you try to sue the studio, because the reason that they closed is because they are going through bankruptcy. Also none of the employees in the studios knew they were closing until late the night before, or early in the morning of the day they actually closed.
Question asked: Why would WalMart be responsible for returning your money?
Answer: The receipt given to me said Sears Portrait Studios. My Credit Card statement said Sears Portrait Studios.
The website was searsphotos.com. The envelope that contained the photos said Sears Portraits. When Sears and Walmart representatives state they have no bearing in this issue, that is NOT a genuine response to this situation. We ordered photos with the understanding that the Sears name was behind it.
If it wasn't, then it makes NO sense to order from Sears Optical, Sears Automotive or any other Sears Department....same goes with WalMart. Kudos to those WalMart stores that actually burned CDs of their customer's photos. Even if they couldn't get the prints, at least their precious memories were not lost forever.
Sears simply stuck to the script that it wasn't them and they had no idea what was happening, yet, CPI own website (to this day) shows that their last earnings statement was millions of dollars in the negative. How hard is it to ignore a company losing millions and millions of dollars and not take any action?
