I too was ripped off by Picture Me. I have a friend who had portraits taken at Sears around the same time and she got her portraits.

Furthermore all my research shows that this problem is pretty much exclusive to Picture Me customers and that Sears customers received the goods they paid for. If CPI owned both companies why did they do right by their Sears patrons and screw over all of us Picture Me customers???

Usman Yzn

The Wal-mart stores who are cooperating with customers and helping get refunds are out are doing it because the studios are still a reflection of their stores. Wal-mart has to step up and be the hero in the situation, however not all stores are helping as I have been hearing.

Guest

I used to manage a Sears portrait studio and let me first start off by apologizing for being ripped off. All CPI employees who worked in a studio and from my understanding DMs too had no idea of this abrupt closing.

And I feel so bad because in my last two weeks of work I serviced over 30 families who spent over $3500 combined who I know wont receive their portraits not to mention the 50+ orders that haven't been picked up yet. Thats nearly 100 orders in my studio alone! My suggestion to you is to dispute the charges because hopefully you paid with credit. Your credit card company will research it and you should get your money back.

Its a waste of time and energy to call customer service seeing as though no one has been in that office for months! Good luck to you!

Your portraits are at the photo center at the loganville walmart. Every order came in.

The studio associates were notified at 11 pm the wednesday after Easter not to comein all US sstudios were closed. I worked at the loganville studio and have we actually got our portraits in. There was a notice left on the counter to go to the photo center to get your portraits. I am so sorry cpi corp (our parent company) did not allow us to take care of our portrait families.

We were actually told not to enter our studios to call our customers or we would be prosecuted for trespassing. I have been so incredibly upset for how cpi corp abused its customers and its employees. Please pick yoir portraits up at the photo center.

Thank you for allowing us to take your portraits. I am truly sorry for the way cpi handled everything.

If you used a credit/ debit card, the bank may be able to cancel and refund your payment. Luckily you did not use cash, you would never see it again.

Some Wal-Mart locations have been refunding the money to keep a good relationship with their customers, but they are not responsible, they did not even know, lifelike the employees, until right before or even a couple days after they closed the stores, so they are just as frustrated. Depending when you got the pictures taken they might even be sitting in the studio and Wal-Mart management might be able to retrieve them for you with id and a receipt

Guest

The Picture Me Portrait Studios have never been owned by WalMart, so why would WalMart be responsible for returning your money? The studio was only renting space in the WalMart stores, and from what I have heard, the studios hadn't paid rent to WalMart in almost a year.

Good luck if you try to sue the studio, because the reason that they closed is because they are going through bankruptcy. Also none of the employees in the studios knew they were closing until late the night before, or early in the morning of the day they actually closed.

Question asked: Why would WalMart be responsible for returning your money?

Answer: The receipt given to me said Sears Portrait Studios. My Credit Card statement said Sears Portrait Studios.

The website was searsphotos.com. The envelope that contained the photos said Sears Portraits. When Sears and Walmart representatives state they have no bearing in this issue, that is NOT a genuine response to this situation. We ordered photos with the understanding that the Sears name was behind it.

If it wasn't, then it makes NO sense to order from Sears Optical, Sears Automotive or any other Sears Department....same goes with WalMart. Kudos to those WalMart stores that actually burned CDs of their customer's photos. Even if they couldn't get the prints, at least their precious memories were not lost forever.

Sears simply stuck to the script that it wasn't them and they had no idea what was happening, yet, CPI own website (to this day) shows that their last earnings statement was millions of dollars in the negative. How hard is it to ignore a company losing millions and millions of dollars and not take any action?

CPI Corp is to blame for this and if your store isn't willing to refund you, call Wal-mart corporate office or find a store that is giving refunds and explain to them that your store will not help you.

Guest

Some stores have been offering refunds as the company was a licensed business I have told my customers to do a stop payment or charge dispute as well. I get you are upset and rightfully so- keep in mind the employees like the guy there as well as me and 4,000 are without jobs and some may be unable to feed our children and are struggling to find a job.

Many of us went there to work anyway and was thrown out trying to reach customers. So yes be upset but being out $100 you are much better off than someone who may loose their place to live or unable to fee their kids.

Guest

WalMart and Sears, neither one, owns the Picture Me Portrait Studios. They are owned by a completely different company.

That company is now in bankruptcy.

I don't understand why WalMart would refund any money for the photo studio. The photo studios were only renting space in the stores, and from what I understand WalMart hadn't received any rent from the studios in almost a year.

Some Wal-Mart locations have been refunding customer that did not receive their photos because they want to keep a good relationship with customers

Angalina Oup

All studios were suddenly shut down, not even the people who worked the studios knew about it, they all got a text message about 10pm on the third stating, do not come to work tomorrow, you no longer have a job, the company is out of business, and that if they were to return to the studio it would be considered trespassing by bank of America, who now owns the studios. A lot of places are refunding money for the pictures that they will not receive, which I know is not as good as having them. But, you can take that money back and I think you can still order online and they will ship directly to you so you could still have some pictures.

Guest

My aunt had pics taken of her and her grandchildren. She went to pick them up and they told her all portrait studios were shut down.

She could nt get the pics, but Walmart refunded her money. Walmart studios are part of Sears studios.

DISAPPOINTED

I AS WITH ALL THE OTHER PEOPLE MAKING COMPLAINTS ON HERE, TOOK MY DAUGHTER FOR HER FIRST BIRTHDAY PICTURES AND BOTH MY DAUGHTERS HAD EASTER PICTURES MADE ON MARCH 29. AS I HAVE READ ON OTHER SITES, THE STUDIO THEN SHUT DOWN ON MARCH 30. I FEEL IT WAS RIDICULOUS ON THEIR PART TO CONTINUE TO BOOK APPOINTMENTS AND TAKE PICTURES KNOWING THEY WERE GOING TO SHUT DOWN THE NEXT DAY OR EVEN WITHIN THE SAME WEEK OR MONTH. NOW I CANT GET THAT EXACT DAY BACK. SURE I CAN REDRESS THE GIRLS AND TAKE THEM ELSEWHERE AND HAVE THE PICTURES REMADE. IM JUST DISAPPOINTED THAT IT WONT BE THE SAME NOW THAT ITS NEARLY A MONTH AFTER HER FIRST BIRTHDAY AND EASTER. I DONT EVEN CARE ABOUT THE REFUND. THE MONEY ISNT THE ISSUE. ITS JUST VERY WRONG AND SAD HOW THE COMPANY DID PEOPLE. THEY KNEW THEY WERE CLOSING AND YET DIDN'T TELL THEIR MANY PHOTOGRAPHERS AND LOCATIONS NOT TO MENTION US PARENTS WHO WOULDV'E HAD THE PICTURES TAKEN SOMEWHERE ELSE. THEY SHOULDVE NEVER TAKEN PICTURES KNOWING THEY WERE SHUTTING DOWN AND LEFT ALL OF US DISAPPOINTED, SAD, AND PHOTO MEMORIES LOST!!!!! I STILL HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO GET MY PICTURES AND CAN NOT FIND ANY WAY TO CONTACT THE COMPANY. WALMART JUST SAYS THEY ARE SORRY AND KEEP CHECKING BACK. VERY SAD!!! :-((

All of the studio's closed on the third of April. None of the employees knew what was happening.

I do know that if I would have known I would have got another job to support my family.

Now I may lose my house. I hope you recieve your photos.

Guest

The employees of the portrait studios didn't know they were closing until late the night before or the morning of the closing. From what I have heard the company that owns the studios didn't know they were going into bankruptcy until the last minute. This was all on the national news at the time it happened.

Pissed off about my pictures!

Pictures taken 3/14/13. Was told 2-3 weeks for prints & 6-8 weeks for Memoy book & 10x10. We received the prints and were told the studio location would be closing but our products would be mailed to us. Being 6-8 week wait, I forgot until recently that we'd not received them. These were my youngest son's first professional pictures and I was really looking forward to being able to hang up my 10x10 so we gave away the 10x13s we had got! I want my pictures! I Have tried to contact customer service and all it is is a wait on a dead line!

You must have had a really long nap. The company that owns the Picture Me Portrait Studios has been in bankruptcy court for several months.

That is the reason that they all closed.

The employees didn't know until late the night before or real early the morning of the closing.

Paid for my daughters first easter pictures which i still dont have to show

Of course i am furious that i still dont have my daughters first easter pictures because of this unprofessional company called cpi which filed bankrupt after conning its customers out of money. So to make this short and simple becauae i know im not going to get my pics by complaining on here, for the families still holding on to hope, like me, that your memories will be found here is a website where you can file a claim and get more information like i am going to do today. It took hours and hours of searching so i hope this is helpful http://omnimgt.com/mobile/casehome/category?clientId=1834&pc=Documents&up=True

If you read my post correctly, i said it will not help me any by posting a complaint on here so i shared the website i found. Obviously i have tried everything other people have tried, like checking with customer service and blah blah blah, i just went straight to the point.

I read a couple reviews and shared what i found out. And by the way the website is for you to file a claim as a creditor to get your money back which i clearly dont care about. And some people like me like to have professional pictures taken so pics can be passed out to family members. You may not take your child holidays serious but i do.

its my first child and her first easter and im mad because i still have no pictures.

So if your comment is not going to help me then dont even bother leaving it. The ignorance of some smart mouths in the US

Just because someone doesn't rush to a portrait studio to have photos taken of their children, doesn't mean they don't take them seriously.

And wow, for someone with no concept of sentence structure or syntax, you sure are rude.

The ignorance of some people in US.

Guest

What good will it do to file a complaint? All of the assets are tied up in court.

Have you checked with customer service at the store where the studio was located?

Some people have be receiving their photos there.

Exactly what is so special about Easter pictures, that can be taken at home?

Picture Me Closed Before I Got My Pictures!

I took my daughter to Picture Me for her Easter pictures on March 22, 2013. The photographer told me my pictures would be ready April 12, 2013. I went back and the studio closed down, went out of business. I paid for the pictures and now I have no picture. I call customer service and sat on hold for an hour and ten minutes and no one picked up. The Walmart were the studio was located said it was closed for about two weeks. I'm wondering did the photographer know at the time the pictures were taken! I am pissed because my daughter is 6 months old and I wanted the memory of her first Easter.

@Megaboo The website says call the 800 number if you took pictures, but haven't received your order. So I would say with hopes to received the pics.

Guest

why would you stay on hold for an hour and a half to a company that went out of business?

Guest

No the photographers didn't know ahead of time that they were being shut down. They were notified either really late the night before the shutdown, or else when they went into work the following morning, they were greeted by a sign telling them that the place was closed and they no longer had a job.

They took my pictures and money and RAN!

I had gone the week of Easter to get my 3 kids Easter pictures done. Having a newborn I really wanted to capture some pictures of her first Easter. I was excited to finally get some professional pictures of her and her siblings together done. I expected to hear back from the man that took our pictures who also was the manager but then found out while at Walmart today that Picture Me had went under and closed. I question as to if the Manager I bought from knew I would never get my pictures or as to why the manager never called me to let me know they were closing. I have alot more questions then answers and cant understand why they were allowed to keep taking pictures and charging people if the head office/CEO knew they were going under. I called my local walmart who went back to look for my pictures at the studio but couldnt find my pictures and offered me a refund. I would much rather have my treasured pictures then the money but its better then nothing.

I worked with this manager and actually helped train him as management. He was highly professional and is a very kind man.

He was actually sent to Spearfish to manage that studio and had previously been living in Watertown..

So he up and left his life to move to Spearfish to run a studio that the company KNEW was going to shut down in just a matter of time but they of course did not tell any of us managers

In fact, WE were told that the company was doing better and WOULDNT'T close.. we were notified by text the night before and told that if we went to work or tried to contact any customers we would be sued.

Guest

The Picture Me employees didn't know the studios were closing until late the night before the closing or really early the morning of the closing. They were all notified when they were home, and had no way of accessing the names of the people whose photos they had taken.

I WANT ANSWERS!

As it was they had already botched my 3/15/13 order and ended up having to reorder the entire package. I never got my promised 16X20 framed print either. I must have gone in there more than a dozen times over the last few weeks to check on my order and even though the store front stated that they were 'open' during those hours, they weren't. When I went in there today the sign was vague at best. I had to ask a number of Walmart employees what the heck was going on. They knew very little. It would seem that 'PictureMe' pushed all of the explaining on to the Walmart employees and it's not even their studio. They were left with a tiny stack of prints to pass out, nothing more. The website and customer service numbers are inactive and it would seem that we, the consumer are left with the message -essentially '***!' I never paid so much for photos in my entire life, but my daughter is my last in line. This was her 1st Birthday and very first photo session ever. I also want to know what the point was to offer incentives on future portraits if they were simply going to shut down all but a week or two later. This is ridiculous and I can see that I am not alone. I already complained to the better business bureau and filed an investigation via my bank into the matter as I was charged $129.99 and received nothing more than a few sheets of the wrong poses. Utterly pathetic.

I worked for this company for 4yrs. I get all the consumers irritation.

The employees were not told til midnight on this past Thursday. We were told not to go back to work we were done. No warning no nothing. Yes we knew the company filled bankruptcy but on Monday we were told they had found a buyer and everything would be good.

Yes things were pushed off on to Wal-Mart but I don't believe they did not know.

i went into my studio for 5 hours to call as many customers I could with out being paid because i feel what they did is wrong. i wish there was more could have done for our customers.

I want my pictures or my money back

First of all we went to the portrait studio in our local walmart to get our daughters easter pictures done on 3/18/13. Everything went good loved the pictures was impressed by the lady who took the photos of our daughter and we bought the gold package. Now come to find out we don't get some of our photos cause the company decided to go bankrupt and not inform the customers or their employees. We feel this is unfair to the customers and employees. We paid a substantial amount for our pictures to only get a few of them back. We feel they should reimburse all its customers or give us our pictures.

I had our family pictures taken at Picture Me Studio at Logan, West Virginia and they shut down before I got all my of portraits. I never received the memory book or the pictures that were framed. I would greatly appreciate if someone would contact me. I tried to get a hold of Cathy that worked there and did the pictures but there's no answer. I have called Wal-Mart several times and they keep saying 10 days and now after the 10 days is up their saying they never received them. If I don't receive the framed pictures then I just assume to give them all back and get a refund!!!

oh, I forgot to add that the women that took the pictures signed me up for a membership and didn't tell me. When she handed me the card I was under the impression that it was included in the package since she never mentioned that she was charging me for the membership. Just thought I would add that.

Original review Apr 18, 2013
I took my kids in for pictures a few weeks ago. We had our session and I chose the pictures I wanted which cost me $140. I was told I could pick up my portraits 2 weeks later. A few days after the session I was in Walmart and saw that the studio was cleaned out and a note was on the door saying they were closed. There were no instructions on where to pick up pictures or if they would be mailed. I called the 800 number on my receipt and got nothing. There was an automated system and a live person never picked up. I finally had to file a dispute with my credit union. That is my only chance of getting my $140 back. It is sad that 4000 employees lost their jobs. It is also sad that A LOT of people were ripped off. You get what you pay for...go to portrait innovations or hire an independent photographer. File a dispute with your bank if you were ripped off by Picture Me!

3INGING UP THE PACKAGES YOU HAVE TO PUT CODES IN THE COMPUTER. THIS IS WHAT MAKES UP THE PACKAGES.

AND THE CARD ONLY CAME OUT TO 10 BUCKS IN A PACKAGE NOT 20. I AM SORRY YOU WERE SCREWED OVER. BUT PLEASE REALIAE WE DID NOT KNOW WE WERE GOING OUT OF BUSINESS. SOME US GOT A CALL THE NIGHT OF THE 3RD SAYING NOT TO GO IT TO WORK WE NO LONGER HAD JOBS.

SOME OF US WENT IN TO A SCREEN SAYING YOUR STORE IS CLOSED DO NOT CLOCK IN. WE ARE OUT A LOT MORE THEN OUR CUSTOMERS. WE ARE OUT A JOB THST SUPPORTED OUR FAMILIES. I KNOW THAT I A REALLY SCREWED.

I WAS OUR ONLY SOURCE OF INCOME. AND I CANNOT EVEN GET UNEMPLOYMENT BECAUSE CPI HASN'T RELEASED ANYTHING SAYING THST THEY GOT RID OF US. SO THE BEST THING YOU CAN DO IS DISPUTE YOUR CREDIT CARD OR GO TO WALMART AND GET A REFUND. I KNOW MY WALMART IS WORKING WITH ME TO HELP TSKE CARE OF MY CUSTOMERS.

PLEASE HOWEVER NOTE THAT WALMART IS NOT PART OF CPI CORP. :(

If they are giving refunds for a product/service they aren't responsible for I be they would hire you. The membership card isn't the issue....it's a detail of my terrible experience. I did dispute with my credit union and its being investigated. I just find it really hard to believe that nobody knew what was happening.

Stolen Memories

I would have loved to have those beautiful pictures of my baby grandson and even though I had to have photos taken somewhere else, they're not the same. He was happier the day that I had them made at Walmart in Rutherford County, N.C. What a terrible way to treat people who trusted in you only to be so disappointed as I am. The LEAST you could do is mail everyone a printed computer copy. I've made 2 trips to the store in hopes that you would at least do THAT. Dont leave terrible memories of your service to everyone thats left behind without their pictures.

I am a former manager that worked for this company and I just wanted to say how sorry I am that this happened. We knew some studios were closing but we were all blind sided when the pulled the plug on the entire US operation.

Keep checking with the store and bring back your receipt because I have heard they are giving refunds. I know it does not make up for your memories and for this I am truly sorry.

I know I still have a bad taste from what they did to their associates and our customers. Again I am really sorry for how the company handled this!

No you don't have to someplace else to take your pictures, you need to go someplace else to have them taken. The Picture Me Portrait Studios closed because the company that owns them is in bankruptcy.

Go to the customer service department of the store where the studio was located and see if they have your portraits.

Some people have been getting their photos there. I don't understand what the big deal is about family portraits, in my 73 years no member of my family has had a family photo done, professionally.

Hate rip offs

I had pictures done there of my daughter and was told her 10x10 portrait would be sent to them in 4-6 weeks and they got it later, but then it wasn't right, so I decided to send back to fix, if I would have been told they were going out of business I would have kept it. But no, no one told us anything, we sent it back and they said it would be another 4-6 weeks just to put a Z on it, and I made another appointment mean while to get my grand kids done and I didn't get a phone call to verify, I called them and then went on line to find out they were closed. Idiots!!! I want my 10x10 it was paid for.

Walmart should have all photos that were in the studio when they closed. When items are sent to be reprinted they are NOT actually sent back to the lab they are kept in the studio until quarterly inventory is done and the disposed of..

There is a good chance that Walmart may have your original 10x10. The one without the z. You should definately go in the store and check. Also don't blame the photographer for the missing reprint as we had no idea they would be closing until 11 pm the night before.

No notice at all, which by the way is illegal.

You are so incredibly rude and selfish. You got most of your pictures, so many got nothing!

So many people lost all their photos or their jobs when this company went down. One question, if it was such a bad studio full of idiots, then why did you go. If you check with the store, they may have your picture.

Remember there are two sides to every story. The associates thought that the company was safe so they had no notice this was happening.
